Step by Step Boot Care GuideUpdated a month ago

Step One: Cleaning your boots

The best way to clean your boots is with vinegar and water:

  • Spray a vinegar/water solution (1/3 vinegar | 2/3 water) over the soiled parts of the boot, and wipe with a lint-free cloth.
  •  Allow boots to fully air-dry away from any type of heat source.

Cleaning may be done any time the leather needs to be freshened up. The vinegar acts to draw minerals and dirt out of the leather, so persistent stains may require a follow up treatment. Once you are satisfied that your boots are clean and dry, they need to be conditioned.

Step Two: Conditioning your boots

Much like a skin moisturizer, our Blundstone Renovating Cream nourishes, conditions, and prevents leather from drying out. It also helps maintain the colour and finish of your favourite Blundstone leather. It is recommended to treat an inconspicuous area of the boot first (such as the heel) to see how the leather will react before applying treatment to the entire boot.

  • When the boots are clean and dry, apply the Renovating Cream sparingly and evenly over the surface of the boots with a lint-free cloth. One thin, even application is all that is necessary.
  • Set the boots aside, away from any heat source, to allow the leather to absorb the Blundstone Renovating Cream.
  • Buff with cloth for high gloss shine if preferred.

We recommend conditioning boots every 3-6 months.

Blundstone Renovating Cream is specially designed for Blundstone leathers:

- Blundstone Black Renovating Cream for Black leathers.

- Blundstone Brown Renovating Cream for premium Brown leathers.

- Blundstone Cherry Renovating Cream for Shiraz and Redwood leathers.

- Blundstone Rustic Renovating Cream for Rustic Black, Rustic Brown, Saddle Brown, Antique Brown and Steel Grey leathers. As this cream is non-pigmented, it can be used on any Blundstone leather boot.

Note: Rustic Renovating Cream does darken the rustic leathers initially although the boots keep the 'rustic' appearance and the leather tends to lighten again over time.

Another option for treating your boots is our Blundstone Polishing Pad
. This is a pre-saturated sponge that is perfect for on-the-go, easy touch ups. Wipe the sponge pad lightly over the surface to cleanse and condition the leather.
Please note: May darken certain leathers. Not recommended for use on rustic leathers, suede or nubuck.

Step Three: Waterproofing Your Boots

If you choose to waterproof your boots, this may be done after the conditioner has been absorbed, or be applied independent of any other treatment or conditioner. We offer a Blundstone Waterproof Spray
that can be used on your boots:

  • Shake well and spray onto dry footwear from a 15 cm distance.
  • A second application may be necessary on old or porous leather.
  • Allow at least one hour between applications.
  • Allow to fully air-dry away from any type of heat source.

The spray is suitable for use on suede, nubuck and canvas. As with all conditioners or sprays, please test on an inconspicuous area prior to spraying over the entire boot. We recommend waterproofing your boots once every 3-6 months.
